MAGNUM POWER ADJUSTER for Crosman 2240, 2240XL, 2300 Series, 2400KT, 2250B

This listing is for the power adjuster shown in the main photo, other parts shown for reference only.

INCLUDES MOUNTING SCREW LENGTHS FOR PLASTIC AND STEEL BREECH, FITS US AND CHINESE-MADE MODELS

This is the newest version of our MAGNUM POWER ADJUSTER for 22XX machined from 360 brass. It has a locking collar and tick marks on the back of the knob to help gauge and maintain adjustments. Paint can be used to fill one or more of the notches to help keep track of adjustments, full and partial turns are easy to count and return to, black paint was added to the one in the second photo, it can be seen at the top position. The hammer spring can be removed by backing the adjuster knob all the way out. The adjustment range is wide enough to produce maximum power, maximum shot count or any level of performance in between. It works with all of the hammer springs we have listed.

At 70 degrees F, adjusted to the minimum power level where it will shoot consistently and reliably, it produces about 175 shots from a 12 gram CO2 cartridge. At full-power you get 20-25 shots, anything less than 20-25 shots per cartridge and it's either too cold or the adjuster is set too strong and wasting CO2 without producing more power. Minimum power is generally 250-350 FPS depending on barrel length and the temperature of the shooting environment. Maximum power is generally 525-650 FPS with longer barrels producing the higher numbers. In hot temps even more power can be produced because CO2 increases in pressure as it gets hotter. Using more striker spring tension reduces shot count but produces more power up to a certain point, too much tension can waste CO2 without producing extra power, so the goal if going for maximum power is to find the sweet spot where the velocity peaks, which when using CO2 is NOT with the hammer spring adjusted as tight as it will go, in many cases it's much less hammer spring tension than that.

INSTALLATION: Chinese-made models have mounting screws that are M4 thread for the factory tube plug, this adjuster requires 8-32 thread mounting screws. Button-head screws are included, they fit the included 3/32 Allen wrench. Use the longest 7/8" screw with a plastic breech, the shorter 3/4" screw with a steel breech, the shortest screw is 5/16" long for the rear of the trigger frame. Using longer screws will damage the threads of the adjustment knob, shorter may lead to the threads stripping out.

1 ) Remove the rear trigger frame and rear breech screws. Remove the tube plug which is where the adjuster will mount. It usually falls or lightly ejects out if you don't hold it while removing the screws.

Install the adjuster with the threaded knob removed. Install the mounting screws, don't tighten either until both are fully threaded in.

Place the hammer spring on the guide at the tip of the threaded adjuster knob. Make sure the spring goes into the back of the hammer as you thread the knob into the tube plug.
